Large gantry machining center refers to the spindle axis and the table vertical set of machining center, mainly suitable for processing large parts. There are fixed beam type (beam fixed, workbench rotating), moving beam type (beam moving up and down, workbench moving back and forth) moving column type (workbench fixed, gantry moving), bridge type (workbench fixed, crossbeam moving), there are also the above composite forms of multi-type gantry machining center.

1. Workbench
The table of the gantry machining center is basically rectangular. Large castings such as worktable, bed, column, beam and ram are made of Mihana cast iron. The inner cavity of the castings is a honeycomb composite arrangement structure with advanced design. They are all treated by aging and secondary tempering to eliminate residual internal stress to stabilize the material and ensure the stability of workpiece machining accuracy and machine tool life.
2. Gantry
The gantry consists of a beam and two columns. It is divided into three types: fixed beam, sectional lifting of beam locked by positioning block and arbitrary lifting of beam.
3. Ram
Ram from the structure can be divided into open and closed two types. The ram of the open structure is clamped on the spindle box through the pressure plate, and the cross-sectional area of the ram is large; the ram of the closed structure is clamped in the spindle box, and the cross-sectional area of the ram is small.
4. Tool magazine
There are three basic types of tool magazine: turret type, wheel drum type and chain length type.
5. Attachment header library
Machining of large complex parts usually requires many attachment heads. The accessory head is specially designed according to the processing requirements of the workpiece, and is generally divided into right angle head, extended head, special angle head, etc.
6. CNC system
The numerical control system generally adopts the SINUMERIK840C and 840D of SIEMENS company in Germany or the 15 and 16 series of FANUC company in Japan, and the numerical control axis adopts full closed loop control.
7. Accuracy
The accuracy of the machine tool refers to the original accuracy of the machine tool under the condition of no external load. Accuracy is usually expressed by its opposite-the deviation from the ideal state (referred to as error), the smaller the error, the higher the accuracy.
